Madeline Bell - Comin' Atcha

1973 RCA album
Led Zep's John Paul Jones co-wrote all tracks, played keyboards and produced the whole thing
The title track is an absolute killer piece of mellow funk

Pete Winslow and the King Size Brass- Girl On The Test Card

A BBC Roundabout album from 1973,which has little to do with the actual test card music
I initially picked this up because of the sleeve, and didn't expect much, but stuck with it and was very pleasantly surprised
The final track 'Space Chariots' is a fantastic wah wah & fender rhodes funk workout clearly based on Deodato's version of Also Sprach Zarathustra

Turning Point - Silent Promise

Quality british jazz/rock album from 1978
Pepe Lemer's vocals on this remind me of Norma Winstone, and the album overall is reminiscent of Ian Carr's Nucleus
'Mirror Mirror' is available here

Great british blues album released 1971 on the budget Sunset label featuring Tony Mcphee of the Groundhogs

The duets are particularly strong, highlighted on 'Oh Death' available here

Biting Tongues - Feverhouse the soundtrack

Industrial soundtrack to a Factory Records/Ikon independent film centred around a mental institution.Heart warming stuff eh?
The 1983 vinyl soundtrack is a Factory mega rarity
There are elements of Throbbing Gristle and Cabaret Voltaire in the music and if you're into that kind of thing,it's consistently interesting throughout
Personally I think Part 5 sums it up

1989 re-issue of a cracking 1972 dub and toasters session featuring Augustus Pablo/Impact All Stars/Crutches & Dennis Brown/Upsetters/Dennis Alcapone & Tommy McCook and The Heptones

Hair Rave-Up - Live From The Shaftesbury Theatre London

What can you say about this one?
It's got the lot
Recorded live (apparently) at the after show rave-up of the original run of the Hair musical in 1969 with Cyril Stapelton at the controls
The music steers clear of the musical thankfully, aside from 2 cuts
Instead we get covers of 'El Pussy Cat' and Lennon & McCartney's 'Birthday',but the real bonus are three uptempo & funky Alex Harvey originals
Not only this, but Alex Harvey rips it up on the best version of 'All Along The Watchtower' you're ever likely to hear

Howard Blake and His Combo - Hammond In Percussion

More organ grooviness
This is a 1966 Studio Two release heavy on the cheese, but contains a few nuggets
The album features covers of Bacharach/Lennon & McCartney and Jobim, has a couple of great originals and a kinda Jimmy Smith take on the James Bond Theme
The standout though is 'The Shark'

Brian Auger,Julie Driscoll & The Trinity - Open

A real killer rarity to kick off with
This is the Italian issue of Auger's classic 'Open'full of great late 60's organ grooves
The difference here is 'Black Cat' is sung in italian
Consistent and brilliant throughout with a fab version of Donovan's 'Season Of The Witch'
The album comes in a unique and groovy sleeve, far superior to the UK issue
